Party Proof Your Skin

The party season is upon us bringing with it fresh challenges for our skin. Party food indulgence and late boozy nights make it more susceptible to dryness and irritation.

Skincare routine

An effective way to keep skin clear is to make sure you continue with a simple skincare routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising. Don’t take short cuts when you are tired by using facial wipes as they are often full of harsh chemicals and are incredibly drying.

Hydrating Skincare

Choose a rich moisturiser to hydrate, plump up, protect and repair your skin. You can add a few drops of facial oil to your usual moisturiser for an extra boost of hydration and to create a dewy complexion. Check the ingredients on your face cream to ensure it contains humectants (e.g glycerine or sorbitol). Humectants attract and hold water. If your moisturiser also contains natural emollients such as plant oils and butters then all the better as these ingredients soften the skin and add nourishing replenishment.

Hands and Lips

The skin on our hands and lips is thinner than on the rest of our body, so it’s essential not to forget them. Keep your lip balm to hand to avoid chapped lips and use a rich hand cream nightly to keep your skin barrier healthy and protected.

Water

Give your skin a healthy boost and counteract those salty snacks and seasonal beverages by drinking plenty of water. Alcohol can lead to dehydration lines, dull and puffy skin. Drinking water will plump up your skin, eliminate toxins and dehydration lines. It’s a good idea to alternate your alcoholic drinks with a soft drink to minimise its drying effect.

Beauty Sleep

Don’t forget the concept of beauty sleep isn’t a myth!  During the day our skin is working to keep hydrated and protected, but at night when we sleep our bodies enter a recovery mode and cell rejuvenation takes place. Lack of sleep will leave skin dull and tired and aggravate dark circles.
