I have always had an interest in people and studied psychology at university. But on graduating I wasn’t sure that I wanted to be a psychologist. I had always been drawn to natural therapies and to a holistic approach to wellbeing and after working in the wine trade for three years I decided to train as a reflexologist.
I really loved the buzz of living in the south-east and working in London, but I missed Devon too much so I came home, got married and then took time out to be with my two young children. As they got bigger and I had more time on my hands, I began working as a reflexologist and beauty therapist in a salon on Dartmoor. At the same time, I started training in skincare and make-up and I set up my own business, Tara’s Treatments, in 2014. It has been a whirlwind ever since. Within two years I was fully booked and I have been unable to accommodate new clients since the summer of 2016.
I come from an entrepreneurial family so the idea of developing my business further seemed like a logical step. This led me back to my first love, skincare, and in the autumn of 2016 the idea for what has become The Dartmoor Skincare Company was born.
The products were developed with the help of extensive testing and feedback from clients, family and friends. Indeed, three generations of my family have tried and loved my products.
