The Dartmoor Skincare Company was launched last year to great acclaim. A new organic skincare range has been launched and it’s handmade and produced on Dartmoor. Tara Leader, 41, began her successful skincare products after working as a beauty therapist for 14 years. The Dartmoor Skincare Company launched in 2016 following extensive testing and development – it’s now more successful than ever.

All products are handmade at Tara’s beauty room at her home in Yelverton – each are sent away for professional testing before being available to buy.

The range includes five products, all made out of ethically sourced ingredients. Tara was sparked to create the products after being aware of sensitive skin, after both her children suffered from eczema when younger. Speaking to The Herald, Tara explained: “I had always been drawn to natural therapies and to a holistic approach to wellbeing and have worked as a therapist on Dartmoor since 2003, initially in reflexology and later as a beauty therapist.

“I started researching ingredients in baby care products and discovered that if I avoided sulphates, their flare-ups would disappear.

“This is how my passion for skincare originally began. It’s also why my products will never contain sulphates, parabens, synthetic colours or fragrances.” The products which follow an ‘inspired by nature’ ethos are vegan friendly and are never tested on animals.

Clients and family all experiment and help Tara in the development of her products so she can get them to be exactly what people want. Tara believes that the skin needs to be treated with ‘tender loving care and pampered with sympathetic ingredients’ and not products which contain harsh addictive’s that can irritate the skin. She explained: “The wild, natural beauty of Dartmoor has always had a very special place in my heart and more recently it has provided the inspiration for my new range of natural skincare products. Tara is continuing to develop the business even further by creating new products.
