Skincare Resolutions

Dartmoor Skincare

Give your skin the tender loving care it deserves and add it to your list of New Years resolutions for 2020.

Remove Your Makeup

The foundation of a good skincare routine starts with twice daily cleansing, toning and moisturising. Not removing your make up at night will lead to premature ageing, spots and inflammation. Skin conditions such as acne and rosacea can worsen. Skin repair and regeneration happens at night, and when you leave makeup on you hinder this process.

Try Double Cleansing

If you wear a lot of make up and your skin feels congested, one cleanse may not be enough. So, cleanse your skin and then cleanse again to make sure all traces of makeup have been removed. This will make your skin nice and fresh at night time and allow all your moisturiser to be absorbed properly. In the mornings it will provide a flawless base for your makeup.

Go natural

Synthetic fragrances are the most common cause of skin sensitivities. If they are present you will find them on the ingredients list as ‘parfum’ or ‘fragrance.’ Products scented with essential oils are a much better option if you want a true natural perfume that is gentle on your skin.  You can also up your skincare game by choosing plant based vegan products which are good for you skin and the environment too.

Check your products haven’t expired

Most beauty products now have an open jar symbol on the packaging (period after opening) which indicates how long the product should be used for after it has been opened. This is usually for 12 months. Expired makeup will sit differently on your skin and old moisturisers will become less effective.Preservatives in your cosmetics will start to deteriorate and bacteria can start to form.

Exfoliate

Treat your skin to a weekly exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate your skin. Add a weekly face mask for an extra boost of hydration, and your skin will continue to look smooth and radiant throughout the year.
